ESU World Members' Conference - 15 - 18 Sept 2008
Bookings are now open for the World Members’
Conference to take place in Edinburgh, Scotland’s
spectacular capital city, from 15th – 18th September
2008. The Conference theme is “Creating an ESU
for the modern world”, and we have planned a really
exciting programme, with a stellar list of guest speakers,
which we hope will stimulate lively discussion about
the ESU’s future.
2008 also marks the 90th Anniversary of the ESU’s
foundation, and the Conference will be celebrating this
landmark birthday. In particular, we are asking ESU
branches around the world to submit photographs and
a written record of their activities in 2007.

|
The first ESU Mexico Debating Seminar together with
the Churchill and Peterson schools was a a complete
success. Five of the above students.
recieved schollarships to represent Mexico
at the World Debating Competition to be held in Washington
D.C. September of this year. The sixth student is
a runner-up and will go in case of an absence.
The debating semminar lasted for five days on the
sixth day a competition was held where the students
debated in front of teachers and parents. After a
very dificult job for the judges the finalists were
chosen.
Two of these contestants could win an additional
fortnight scholarship to the King´s School Cantebury

ESU
Makes History in the House of the Lords
The ESU made history recently when the International
Final of the Schools Mace, the national debating
championships for Britain and Ireland, saw more
than 200 school children, teachers, ESU members,
Alumni and representatives of partner organizations,
fill the famous red seats of Britain's Upper House.
